Streaming to your Device

So I tested out PS3 Media Server, and it's pretty good. It plays the files that TVserity couldn't, it's free, plus I like the way they structure their files better. Plus, despite its name, you can use it for various devices besides the PS3.

So check it out:

TLDR version of previous post

Previously I was copying the files onto flash drives, sticking them in my PS3 to play the videos.

With the current setup, I'm just using the program to stream the videos using the computer's wifi to the console.

Using Tversity to stream to a PS3

So I might be a bit behind on this, but I finally bit the bullet and turned my PC into a media server. It was all pretty simple actually. Just got the software from TVersity (had a license fee of 4 bucks, pretty cheap), turned on the wifi on my pc and that was pretty much it. Turned on my PS3 and the media server was in the Video section.

Before, I was putting the files on flashdrives with FAT32 file systems on them. It was alright, but this way will save me a step. I tried a few of our releases as well as some stuff from Youtube, and it looked pretty nice (Even the SD stuff, surprisingly enough).

Unfortunately, there's still a problem with pre-2009 xvid encodes which simply won't play at all in this method.

Anyway, just thought I'd blog about it to let people that they always have options when playing back our files.

Server Donations Part 2

Due to an overwhelming response ($600+ USD donated in about 3 hours), we have taken down the donation links while we get everything sorted out.

Thank you for the response and kindness!

Server Donations

It's that time of year again.  We need to pay for our server.  The goal this year is $500 USD.  The donation button is on both the front page and the torrent tracker.

Thank you to both the future and past donors for your kindness.

Oh my, this is different

I guess this is our new front page.

So what do you think?

Photobucket working (maybe all along)

So I tried the upload button from within a certain album on my account and it worked! Whenever I tried using the upload button from the main page, it took me to a site maintenance page. That's so dumb.

Anyway, pictures have been added to all the posts since Fourze 46.

Server maintenance cancelled

Postponed for another day.

Server Downtime Scheduled

The server will be going down for an upgrade Tuesday, August 14 at 10:00 PM PDT.  The upgrade is expected to take one to two hours.

Aaaaand we're back

Tracker looks like we've taken the TARDIS back to 1992, but it's up. Go happy downloaders!

EDIT: Okay, so you can't actually download anything without it asking for a username and password. Oops. Working on it.

W EDIT: WHEE WE'RE ACTUALLY BACK. Tracker design is temporary, so the sooner you submit designs the sooner we can get search functionality back.

In the meantime, please go gay over this picture of Date Akira. Takenoko already has.

Monday update

It seems like it would be more effort to patch the old tracker software, so a new one is being made. Hopefully this one will be less exploitable!

We're holding a contest for the design of the new tracker. This is a page a lot of people see, so please do a good job with it. Details here.

Just to reaffirm things, I don't believe the old tracker was shooting viruses and stuff into people's computers. If it were really that bad, we'd have a lot more of an issue. It just seems like someone somehow got in and added a harmless spam redirect.

We'll probably hold off on releasing more Agito for now. If the tracker is still down when our Go-Busters is ready for release, we'll just do a direct download release.

Tracker design contest

So we're thinking of using a new tracker. What we want from you guys is a new design for it.

We'll be taking applications for it. Submit a picture or html code or whatever. The winner's designs will get used for our new tracker page.

Hope we get some good ones!

Don't click on the tracker url from Google

Apparently if you click on the link from google, it sometimes takes you to a Thai spam page. Just bookmark the torrent page url directly.

Specifically, use this url with the index.php at the end:

For some reason Avast is blocking by itself, so that might mean something?

Fall 2012 T-N Project

Suprise Kuuga! 09 released. Minor announcement

Hey, Kuuga. How you doing? As always, thanks to Zeta and Cheetah for continuing to work on this series.

Minor announcement: We recently discovered that you can encode SD stuff in 264 format too. Yeah! We can get higher quality for a smaller file size. Pretty sweet. I wish we knew about this sooner.

Jokes aside, with most people downloading the HD format version, sites like EZ News switching over, and just the fact that if you can play Youtube, you probably can playback a 264 file okay, now seems like a good time to make the switch. For now, we're just doing the switch for DVD encodes. But probably with the start of Wizard, weeklys will follow suit. I'm not as bothered about switching the weeklys since they get a HD version.

If you have any feedback about this, please use this thread here. A customer service droid will promptly assist to your needs.

We have a Wiki

As some of you may be aware, #TV-Nihon has its own wiki now. I know there are some other sites that provide information, but I really want to build an all-encompassing tokusatsu wiki. As well as for other stuff that we've subbed.

Eventually, I would like it if it answered questions like "who was the guest actor in this episode", or "in which order should I watch the Den-O movies" or something. I think this is something that can be really useful to the fandom.

It just seems like a natural progression since creating the script for the fansub requires a lot of research anyway. One notices stuff when fansubbing, hopefully this translates into interesting material for a wiki article.

We're always looking for people to help add content and stuff. If you have a favorite show or actor or character, please write an article and add it. It's pretty simple to do. Just send me an e-mail if you have any questions.

I guess 4chan noticed our wiki and were going at it for a few days. If you want to see what constitutes as humor to these guys, here's a link, just click on their IP to see what they wrote.

If you see a page get vandalized, just go to the history and undo it. The strength and the weakness of wikis is that everyone contributes.

It's still a work in progress, but hopefully there's enough there now for people to see how it can be a useful tool in the future. We might open up the option to upload pictures to it in the future. I think people would like that feature. But right now, we're in the business of information.

Update your bookmarks and links

We're live? We're up?

Good good. Alright guys, time to update your links.

Tracker is now at:

While we have a redirect in place, it'd be nice to not have to trigger that too often.
